Commitment to cultivation

the rice farm

At the rice farm, the soil, water, and sunlight are all perfect for rice cultivation.
In order to maximize the potential of this environment, a natural farming method (Japonic) is used, with no fertilizer or agricultural chemicals whatsoever.

Natural farming is completely free of fertilizers and agricultural chemicals, and this cultivation method attempts to draw out all of the natural power of the rice plants and the soil.
But this is not a neglectful method in which humans are uninvolved. Our staff must constantly monitor conditions, make efforts to keep the water temperature up, and pay close attention to the rice plants in order to manage their growth. Although weeds that grow in thickly are removed using machinery, those that can't be reached are removed by hand one by one.

This Japonic natural cultivation method is not easy or simply by any means, but the harvested rice has a light taste unlike other crops grown in soil overloaded with nutrients, and our brown rice is free of the bitter taste characteristic of other products.

Farm environment

Water: The water flows down from the southern alps mountain range, and since it contains large amounts of minerals from flowing through limestone, this water has been known as a great resource for rice cultivation since ancient times, when the delicious rice of the city of Ino was known as "downstream rice." Since the rice farm is located close to the top of this stream, there are no houses or farmlands above it, so the water truly is pure southern alps water. Clean water that you can only find in the mountains is one of the main selling points of the rice farm.

Soil: After volcanic ash was deposited, various plants have thrived here, and the surface layer contains large amounts of organic matter. For this reason, the abandoned rice paddies and farmland is highly fertile, and healthy rice plants can be grown here without the need for any fertilizer. Many of the rice fields have good drainage, and harmful gases which can be easily generated due to circulation conditions are not emitted readily.

Altitude: The altitude is around 1,000 m, which creates temperature differences between daytime and night, and the cool climate reduces damage from pests. High elevation makes an ideal environment for cultivation without agricultural chemicals.
